Good to know
Frequently asked
What exactly is tissue culture?
It's a way of growing a whole new plant from a tiny piece of tissue in a sterile flask filled with nutrient gel. Because everything is clean and controlled, the plantlets grow up free of the pests and diseases that spread through cuttings.
Are the plants healthy and pest-free?
Yes โ that's the whole point. Growing in a sealed, sterile flask means the plantlets start life clean, without the hitchhiking bugs or disease that often come with imported cuttings.
Do you ship?
No โ local porch pickup only, in Valparaiso, Indiana. Keeping it local means every flask stays upright and undisturbed, and there's no shipping damage or delay.
How do I buy one?
We post available flasks on our TikTok, @micropropplants. Follow along to catch new drops, then message us to arrange pickup.
What do I do with the flask once I get it?
You "deflask" it โ gently move the little plants out of the flask and into pots, then help them adjust to normal conditions over a few weeks. Our care guide walks you through every step.
Do I need special supplies to deflask?
Not much โ a self-watering pot and a simple mix of stratum and perlite, plus a way to keep humidity up while the plant settles in. The care guide lists exactly what you need.
